The temple of Luxor is incredibly rich with the chronicles of the past. Karnak: This temple complex is home to three main temples, several smaller enclosed temples, and a number of outer temples, combining the achievements of many generations of ancient builders over a period of 1500 years. Colossi of Memnon: two gigantic statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. These two gigantic figures of Amenhotep III were originally situated in front of his mortuary temple, which seems to have been destroyed for unknown reasons. Each colossus is about 21 meters tall and represents King Amenhotep III seated on his throne. Temple of Queen Hatshepsut: The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, also known as Deir el Bahri, is dedicated to Amon-Ra, the sun god; designed by an architect named Senemut because it was designed like classical architecture; it is considered one of the most unique temples ever. Habu temple; in ancient times, Madinat Habu was known as Djanet, and according to ancient belief, this was the place where Amun first appeared. Both Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis III built a temple dedicated to Amun here, and later Rameses III constructed his larger memorial temple on the site. Built from sandstone blocks, the huge Ptolemaic temple was constructed over the site of a smaller New Kingdom temple, oriented east to west, facing towards the river. The later structure faces north to south and leaves the ruined remains of the older temple pylon to be seen on the east side of the first court. Navigating to Kom Ombo. The temple has several shrines and sanctuaries. The High Dam, the world’s largest embankment dam, was built across the Nile in Aswan, Egypt, between 1960 and 1970. Construction of the High Dam became a key objective of the government following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952; with its ability to better control flooding, provide increased water storage for irrigation, and generate hydroelectricity, the dam was seen as pivotal to Egypt's planned industrialization. Unfinished Obelisk in the afternoon: the unfinished obelisk is the largest known ancient obelisk and is located in the northern region of the stone quarries of ancient Egypt in Aswan, Egypt.
